  10. Ami Pro 3.0 is compatible with LANtastic NOS 4.xx and 5.xx.

  12. Product Overview:
  13. Ami Pro is a Microsoft Windows 3.x based word processing system. As
  14. of version 3.0, operation of Ami Pro over the LANtastic Network
  15. Operating System is directly supported.

  17. Test Equipment Configuration:
  18. The following machines were used for Ami Pro 3.0 testing. All
  19. machines used Artisoft AE-3 NICs. Testing was completed using
  20. LANtastic NOS v4.1. The LANtastic peer to peer server is designated
  21. by (S). DOS Share was loaded on the Ami Pro Server in all tests.

  27. Installing Ami Pro v3.0:
  28. Installation is achieved via Ami Pro INSTALL facility initiated by
  29. invoking the RUN command within Windows. Choose the "Install Ami
  30. Pro on Server" , "Complete Ami Pro Installation" and "Windows"
  31. option icons during the installation. After Ami Pro has been
  32. installed on the server, install the node software on each
  33. designated workstation using the following steps:

  35.      Net Login \\<Ami Pro Server> <UserName> <Password>
  36.      Net Use <Drive ID> \\<Ami Pro Server>\<Ami Pro Installation
  37. Drive>

  39.      Start Windows on the workstation.
  40.      Invoke the RUN command and enter in the command box:
  41.      <Drive ID>\<Ami Pro Installation Directory>\Node\Node
  42.  
  43.      The Node program will install the necessary changes to the
  44.      Windows .INI files and create any necessary workstation
  45.      directories.

  47. Compatibility Notes;
  48. Because of the fixed requirement that all Ami Pro documents have
  49. the extension of .SAM, documents cannot be passed via LANtastic
  50. mail services using the DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange) function of
  51. LANtastic for Windows. The extension given to a mailed DDE document
  52. under LANtastic is ._SP which Ami Pro cannot be coerced into
  53. recognizing (Artisoft tracking number T01292).

  55. Security:
  56. If two or more users are accessing the same document
  57. simultaneously, both may review the document, but only one may
  58. update it. Any other user updating the document will receive a
  59. "Document Locked" error message.

  61. Printing:
  62. Printing documents to network printers is fully supported by Ami
  63. Pro 3.0.
